This decision is yours and yours entirely. I have no idea who you are, what you have experienced or what you are capable of. It is a busy job with a focus on academics, but what can even be busier/stressful is the focus on the students’ emotional/mental well-being. This can also affect the teachers’ well-being. But, still, you need to decide what you are capable of.
However, teaching is a career that a plethora of people are in, meaning there are SO MANY supports out there to help you. Chatting with your department head, administration or any fellow colleagues will help you through the, what seems like, 24 hour job.
I cannot think of any career that is more fun and rewarding, though. I have my down days where I think a 9-5 job might be better, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. A student’s success, a single one, is worth it (an entire class would be better, but I’ll go for one sometimes).
Take some time to reflect, even try some volunteer work in schools. Good luck!
