Do your students ever get into arguments about controversial issues? Because my European History class does that a lot and some students just have like REALLY racist/bigoted opinions and I can just tell how much they piss my teacher off but she doesn’t want to argue with students. Have you ever had this problem before?

Yes, it happens often.  If someone is being racist, I put a stop to that immediately.  And I don’t mean a stop, as in we forget the comments ever existed, but more so change the tone of the discussion so they can hear a new viewpoint, and not share their racist, etc comments in front of others.
