Do teachers really not over hear conversations? I remember in 8th grade there was always this kid that talked about anal & always used the n word (even though he was white) but never got caught.

It depends.  Sometimes teachers choose to ignore conversations, other times they really do not hear, or they do listen and do something about it.  It’s unfortunate that the student you discussed got away with those actions.  In order for teachers to be aware of everything in the classroom, they do rely on the assistance of others, so if one is offended by another student’s language or actions, one needs to speak up.
