I have a teacher/director who follows the motto that a teacher can judge how much homework to give by how much they can grade. The idea is that if the teacher can’t finish grading in the time period the student was given for the assignment then the teacher needs to give less homework or extend time it is due in. I personally think that’s fair because it puts an equal stressor on the teacher and student. How do you feel about that philosophy?

I think this is common (or should be common).  I am usually quite slow with marking, as I correct every little thing in the paper and provide detailed and descriptive feedback, but try to adhere to timelines as much as possible.
