Would you get a disadvantage from starting to be a teacher at a later age? If so, what would the extent of the disadvantage be? Because it seems that in some fields if you enter it later (maybe above the age of 35) you do have a massive disadvantage in terms of connections and positions in the office and you’ll be working with early twenties while you’ll be 40 or so. Basically, is teaching a good choice for a second career or something to enter as you get older?

I don’t think there would be a disadvantage at all.  I know many teachers who choose teaching as a second career.  For career advancement and job opportunities, take a look at the current state of employment in your area.  For example, there are barely any jobs available in my area, but, as a young teacher, I can afford to wait it out and take small jobs here and there.  However, I know some older, but new teachers who can’t afford to wait around.  Do some research into your area.  Once you are IN the classroom, you should be fine as long as you feel confident in your abilities.  Good luck!
