So, I’m thinking of becoming a teacher and I was hoping you could answer a question for me. Is it worth going to graduate school to get an MS and credentials to teach? Or, is it okay to just go straight into teaching? What about programs like Teach for America and stuff? I’ve asked a couple of teachers and counselors but, they haven’t really helped me. Oh, I’m considering teaching high school English and maybe a foreign language as well.

Teaching in Real Life

I am not sure what programs are like where you are from.  It is up to you to decide what you want to do with your life.  I can’t tell you whether it’s worth it for you.  I completed by Bachelor of Arts Honours degree, then completed my Bachelor of Education degree, because I wanted to teach.  Where I am from, this is the only way you are able to become a teacher.  Do some personal reflecting, volunteer in some schools, and decide ON YOUR OWN.  This is YOUR life; only YOU can decide for you.  If the option is available to you to go into teaching without a full education and you feel you are ready, then you are ready.  If you want more experience or education to help you, then go that route.
