Hey there, I’m curious about what teachers generally think when they see a student write or read about Columbine, Virginia Tech, Sandy Hook, etc.? Thanks.

No idea.  I do not live in the United States.  I would think they are trying to learn more information about what happened if I saw any students researching those tragic events.
