In hs, I was mad at my teacher and wrote about how wronged I was to my boyfriend on myspace. The next day, she called me to her desk and hinted that she saw my page and said teachers go online to check on their students and to watch what I say.

That is ridiculous.  Teachers are meant to teach their students about security and privacy to be safe online, but that is extreme.

Clearly, if your profile is open for your teacher to find you, it also means anyone can see your posts, so it is also a lesson in privacy because things you post on the internet can come back to haunt you.  It is still extreme what happened, but utilize privacy settings.
