a teacher at my school always makes insulting jokes about students to their face. the other day, he wanted to talk to me so he told another student to tell me that he wanted the ugliest girl at the table to go up to his desk. i know he was joking, but it still hurt. i’m a little more forgiving, but i think you shouldn’t be making fun of students, especially teenagers, as we’re insecure and it’s just plain rude. those kind of jokes aren’t funny but i don’t know how to tell him he needs to stop

I’m sorry this happened to you.  To begin, I would talk with your teacher privately about how his comments make you feel.  Don’t be accusatory, but express your feelings.  If this does not work, then go to a caring adult in the building to share your thoughts, because this should not be happening to you or anyone else in the school.
