I’m glad you have a positive relationship with him; however, I don’t think a full-grown adult man should be confiding in a 16 year old about his personal problems. I don’t think he should be “dumping” that on to a teenager; he should have his own friends to help him with his problems. It’s one thing to share personal stories, but not issues he is dealing with. If you feel comfortable that nothing wrong is happening, then it should be okay. But the very fact that you’re asking if it is weird leads me to believe that there’s something in your head that thinks it is weird or wrong. Do what is best for you.
