Would you be uncomfortable if a former student (who has been graduated for several years) tried to form a close friendship with you? I was really close with one teacher in high school and I want to build more of an equal relationship rather than a student/teacher one, but I don’t want to push any boundaries or lose the relationship altogether.

Teaching in Real Life

It would always depend on the student, but I would be okay with an acquaintance relationship.  You can always just try to see how emailing back and forth goes.
