I’m a college student working on my education degree and I work in a middle school and high school. Most of the teachers I work with give me a lot of negative feedback about becoming and elementary school teacher, things like “you’ll never find a job because every girl 20-25 is getting that degree” and how I should turn back while I can. Is this normal? How do you deal with the negative comments about your job?

Don’t listen to them.  Everyone has comments about teachers, even current teachers!  Follow your own path and work hard.  If you truly desire to become a teacher, it will happen.  Don’t give up!

And once you get into a school, avoid the staff room/teachers’ lounge.  Those kind of comments will be all you find in there.
