anon who said they’re quiet&unnoticed: Teachers like those kinds of students, we do. They tend to be the valedictorians, nhs. the reason your teacher/school probably chooses outgoing kids because they’re more likely to think of them. Outgoing kids are open and have closer student-teacher relations with their teachers so they know them well. You are liked and appreciated but probably fly under your teacher’s radar where outgoing kids are noticeable, but teachers grade both types fairly

I completely disagree.  It is up to the teacher to notice EVERY student and EVERYTHING they do.

Just because they are more outgoing DOES NOT MEAN they are the only ones deserving of attention and recognition.

It is possible for there to be a close student-teacher relationship with ANY student.  It may come easier with more outgoing students, but I WORK to get to know every student to try to bring them out of their shell, or just get to know them on an one-to-one basis and understand WHO THEY ARE as a person.  It is IMPORTANT for EVERY student in my classroom to feel comfortable IN the classroom and talking to ME for any reason.

Yes, we mark each one fairly, but ALL are worth recognition in all aspects.  We are NOT doing our jobs if we ONLY focus on the students who are more comfortable speaking aloud in the classroom.

I was done with questions for the month to start my official vacation, but had to answer this one because it made me quite upset.  I’m sorry if I am misinterpreting your response.

It is quite unfortunate and sad if the quiet students are FORCED to be quiet and not listened to whatsoever.  Grades are not important in the long run.  People will always remember how you made them feel, and I feel that is more significant part of my job than teaching content and assigning a percentage grade.
