It all depends on your interests. Usually, books are chosen for use in school because of their connection to society and that there are life lessons in them. Sometimes it can be hard to connect with them, but try putting yourself in the characters’ shoes. For some differing perspectives on society, I would recommend The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, Indian Horse by Richard Wagamese, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, I am the Messenger by Marcuz Zuzak, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie, The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli and Theories of Relativity by Barbara Haworth-Attard.
