For one, I would hope the teacher isn’t full on criticizing, but offering advice and illustrating the student’s strengths and next steps. I have not had this particular situation happen, but whenever a student gets upset I try to talk with them to understand their perspective and collaborate on next steps.
How does a teacher feel when they criticize a student, and their student starts crying and apologizing?

How do I feel less terrible about going to school? Don’t get me wrong, I am totally grateful that I have access to a pretty high quality public education. I know that there are many parts of the world where education is practically unattainable. But even so, I still just… don’t like going to school. I don’t want to sound like I’m whining, I just want to know how to stop feeling this way all the time.
Have you tried talking to a teacher or guidance counsellor about this? You might need to talk some things out. You could also talk to your guidance counsellor about choosing courses that you are interested in and perhaps would be more engaged in, as well. School isn’t for everyone, and by that I mean the way schools work, the system. Also ask about some possible alternative solutions if it’s not working for you.

I am a high school student who works really hard. But talking/ interacting/ being around teachers makes me extremely anxious for no good reason, I always feel like they are making judgements or find me extremely annoying. Do you have any suggestions on what to do or how to act going forward? How do I build close relationships with teachers?
You are not annoying! We want you to talk with us to ask questions. We definitely are not judging you, either. Just be yourself! Be up front by having a private conversation with them that you can become anxious sometimes. You can do it!

My high school is doing block schedules next year even though most of the school doesn’t agree with it. I was wondering what do you think about it?
I have no idea what that means, sorry.

I have a teacher that never grades our work. I understand you have other things but she told me 2 months ago she would have my assignment grade out in. It’s still not in.
Sometimes that happens. I try to take the same amount of time it took students to complete it to mark it, but doesn’t always happen, but I do try to keep it close. Just keep asking politely.
