What do teachers think about students with mental illness? I know every teacher has like 200 students, but in your experience can you tell based on personality traits or behaviors? It feels like they think it’s more of a hassle because of excess absences and late work. In general I’m curious to know what teachers really do think tho, because many kids don’t LOOK depressed or anxious but have severe issues that can fly under the radar and I don’t wanna look like it’s for attention :/

Teachers should be understanding.  We are not mind readers so we can’t always tell.  You should talk to your teachers to explain what is going on.  It won’t be an “excuse” or for “attention.”  You need to focus on your mental health, and sometimes school needs to come second.

I wanted to get a teacher’s view on this. A while back in AP history we were having a debate. I LOVE debates. I love talking, and arguing and defending my points. However, at that debate I just sort of… broke down. (I suspect I have anxiety but I don’t know) and I asked to leave class, I was allowed and I ran out of there crying. Do you think he will tell my parents? My parents would think something is wrong with me, and send me off to a “special school”, but I love my school. Should I worry?

Talk to your teacher.  We all have bad days.  You could also try talking to your parents and your doctor if you have some concerns with your mental health.

I am going to be a senior next year Over the last 3 years oh highschool I have not been doing very well due to anemia which I just found out about this year it makes me very weak and I basically have no energy During my last year I have a full schedule and AP classes I have energy now because of supplements I am not behind in credits or anything I’m actually ahead but my GPA is not the best I’m gonna start with community college for two years and then transfer , will this impact my transfer?

I’m glad you have been feeling better!  I am not sure how it will affect your postsecondary plans, as I don’t live in the US.  Ask a guidance counsellor or the admissions office at the postsecondary institution you’re interested in.

Oh my god, I just found your Tumblr and I’m in love with it. I’m currently in high school (sophomore) and all I can do is read your memes and compare it to classmates and try to imagine what my teachers are thinking. Anyways, I have a question. Has a student done anything crazy, funny, or what-just-happened-moment to you in the middle of class? It happens a lot in my biology class and it adds a bit of relief to the hour. Feel free to share a funny class story if you have one!(you’re awesome btw)

Thanks!  Those moments in the middle of class are always the best.  They can be very distracting, but those are the things we will all remember.
