hey! i’m a student and i’ve been obsessively scrolling through your blog (which is great, btw), so i thought maybe you’d be the best person to talk to about my issues with class participation. i’ve recently been participating more and more in class these days, but insecurity still holds me back from saying something, and when i do, it doesn’t go as well as i planned. do you have any advice that might squash this?

Try to set goals for yourself each day, week, month.  Just keep trying.  You can do it!

I’m in my last year of high school and I just want to ask: teachers don’t mind speaking to students about personal matters, right. Especially when it’s a lot. I’ve had a very shitty year and I’ve constantly gone to this one specific teacher for help. And even though she said it’s completely fine and she’s always here to support me, I can’t help but feel like I’m burdening her or taking up too much of her time. I even told her this, and she said it wasn’t like that, but there’s still that feeling

Of course not!  If it “burdened” them, they would tell you.  I would think they would be happy you feel comfortable talking to someone.
