I’m interested in becoming a secondary English teacher (I live in Canada and I’m in grade 11) but I’m a little worried about my grades- in english and Social (grade 11 level) I ended with a 90% each with pretty consistent grades over 80%. I know that you need to take a few more classes up to the grade 12 level, so I’m taking Chemistry +others— and i SUCK at chemistry, I think I’m at a 70% right now! Will this one poor grade effect my chances of getting into a university for becoming a teacher?

Take a deep breath.  You will be fine.  In Ontario, only your Grade 12 marks count for entrance into university, and then your university grades for your entrance into a Bachelor of Education program.  I majored in English so I didn’t even need to take any sciences or math courses in my senior grades in high school.  What do you want to focus on?

Hi! I’m just gonna get straight to the point. My P.E. teacher is a really fucked up dude, he’s a sexual abuser and harasses students and the headmistress won’t do anything about it, even though there were LOADS of complaints about him. I could get permission from my doctor to permanently stop going to class(the doc would make up a condition that would make me unable to attend class),as it’s very uncomfortable for me to be in the same room as the teacher. Would that affect getting into college?

Call the police.  Seriously.  This will make the school have to deal with it.  It is your safety and your comfort.  Don’t worry about the college part.  That will come later.

My exams for uni are in a few months and it is not going well. I am yet to pass an exam and it is just a mess. I don’t particularly mind because I can take failing at life. But my teachers are getting told off my management for it and I feel bad. Is there anything I can do to stop them getting in trouble and make their lives easier without having to pass an exam?

Standardized testing is meant for one particular “type” of student.  Unfortunately, teachers can be evaluated for the scores and it is beyond our control.

Before the holidays I went to see a few teachers and the principle about switching classes. I want to switch because I felt stressed out and anxious because of this student in my class. She isn’t straight up rude to me, but she has this attitude and it is affecting my classmates, which lead them to ignore me most of the time. The principle told me he was going to let me switch classes after break, but it sounded like he wasn’t actually going to let me. What can I do to make this work out?

In life, sometimes we are surrounded by negative people.  It is how we handle the situation that pushes us forward.  If you don’t switch, talk to your teacher about some strategies to handle your anxiety.  You could also try having a polite conversation with this other student.
