Before the holidays I went to see a few teachers and the principle about switching classes. I want to switch because I felt stressed out and anxious because of this student in my class. She isn’t straight up rude to me, but she has this attitude and it is affecting my classmates, which lead them to ignore me most of the time. The principle told me he was going to let me switch classes after break, but it sounded like he wasn’t actually going to let me. What can I do to make this work out?

In life, sometimes we are surrounded by negative people.  It is how we handle the situation that pushes us forward.  If you don’t switch, talk to your teacher about some strategies to handle your anxiety.  You could also try having a polite conversation with this other student.

I know this is dumb but my calculus teacher is being punished because she took a lot of time off to adopt a baby. So the school took away her honors precalc class and is making her teach Algebra 1 which is mostly freshman. She is a pretty soft teacher because she has only taught honors classes with kids who want to be there and I’m worried the kids in her new class are going to treat her like shit. She deserves the world but I go to a rough school and I know those kids are going to be difficult.

I believe the best teachers are the ones who teach students with difficulties and/or challenges.  Anyone can teach honours classes.  It is how we persevere through difficult situations that really matters.

hi I do online school and i was supposed to be done social and math today (excluding the final) but i still have a lot left (8 math assignments and 2 social) all week i have been rushing and completely throwing my personal care out the window and this always happens when i get behind and it doesn’t help. Do you have any advice?

You can only do what you can.  Throughout the school year, make goals for yourself about what you should have done by certain dates, and complete work in sections while still taking breaks for yourself that focus on your energy and passions.

I’m going to be a senior in high school next year and my Counslor texted me telling me that my schedule wasn’t working out and to call her at her office. All of the classes I wanted to take are important for me to graduate, how should I go about explaining this to her as I’m pretty upset about the whole situation (my perevious Counslor wouldn’t tell me important things like classes availability for classes i need to graduate unless I confronted her about it)

Always be honest.  Tell them how you feel and try to find a solution that works best.
