If you, as a teacher, get to know a like-minded student really well and genuinely like them as a human being, so you even think about them outside of school? Like if you see something that you remember they like or something that reminds you of them, do you think about them?
Sometimes. But I try my best to keep my work and private life separate.

this is my last year of high school and I really want to stay in touch with my English teacher- we’ve gotten quite close however I’m just not sure how to ask in a way appropriate at school ??
This is fine to stay in touch. Just ask if it’s okay to email them updates after you leave school. If they are uncomfortable with it, they will tell you. I’m sure they will appreciate hearing from you after you leave.

Are teachers proud of their former students who fulfill their dreams?
Of course!

Hi! I’m a senior in college, about to start student teaching. I’m very excited but also really nervous (and kinda terrified). Do you have any advice for someone starting out on what one of my professors called a “year-long interview”?
Good luck!
Always be yourself. Show that you care about kids.
