hi I just found your account and went through a lot of the posts and I love them!!! one thing I gathered is that school for you started at the end of August which is when schools in my area start so I was wondering if I could ask you what school you teach at? it’s totally cool if it’s not a question you can or feel comfortable about answering, I’m just curious to find out if I maybe know which school it is. So I have this problem. Well my older brother is my English professor but sometimes he gets on my nerves because sometimes he likes to make fun of me because he feels like he has this power of authority over me. What should I do? Btw I love your blog.
Talk to him privately about your concerns. You should be treated professionally as a student, like your other classmates.

Do teachers hate it when they see students outside of school (in the holiday for example)? Always wondered that
I don’t hate it, but it can be awkward. I try to avoid where I can, where I know students do the same thing. Teaching already takes up so much of my personal life that I try to have some moments where it doesn’t invade.

Hello, I am a dutch student and I have a question. How do you think would be the best way to handle with a teacher that seemingly doesn’t like the student. I’m not sure how this teacher feels about me, but through signals I was given the feeling that this teacher isn’t too keen on my presence in class. I’m (obviously with some exceptions now and then) a hard working student who tries to do their best. Do you have any tips on how to let this teacher know that? Thank you in advance.
I am sorry to hear that these are the feelings you are getting from your teacher. You could try to arrange a meeting with them outside of class to politely express your feelings and that you are working really hard and that you feel you aren’t being recognized for your efforts. Ask if there is anything else you could be doing. If this doesn’t work, try to talk to another adult in the building that you have a good rapport with to express your feelings. Good luck.

So I’m going into practicum next week, teaching 1st grade. I am seriously so nervous that the students are just going to look at me like I am crazy since I’m not their normal teacher and I’m not even really a teacher at all. Ugh. I don’t know what to do! And won’t the lead teacher feel weird having an inexperienced college student playing pretend teacher in her classroom?? I am too nervous. Too too nervous.

Everyone has to go into practicum and everyone is nervous. The associate teacher you were working with also had to do a practicum before they became a teacher. The students are usually happy to have another teacher with them (particularly younger grades) and/or don’t care (most older grades).
If you take it one step at a time and try your best, you should be able to work through anything that comes your way.
