What do teachers think when 1) a student is a teachers pet (less for grades, more just for attention/favoritism from the teacher) 2) a student likes to talk about a teachers person life with them (not too personal obv but like stuff non related to school) 3) students over achieving and being cocky because they’re smart & they know it 4) students having crushes on teachers

1) That’s their own prerogative.

2) Cool.

3) That’s their own prerogative.

4) I just threw up in my mouth.

Im starting my first year of teaching next Thursday. In 4th grade. I haven’t been into my classroom yet because the whole building is under construction and Im afraid it won’t be done in time. And Im super nervous I won’t be a great teacher. Im afraid I have bad classroom management skills and I just won’t be good at teaching. Any advice for a terrified first year teacher? I really want to do well.

Just care about kids.  Everything else will fall into place.  Try your best and show you care.

I’ve been wanting to become a teacher for the longest time, and then once I got to 8th grade I still didn’t know what subject I really wanted to teach. (I know it’s early to know what career I want. I have a heart for kids.) I decided I wanted to be a science teacher because of the science teacher I had. She ended up finding out I wanted to be a teacher and wanted to teach science because of her. She seemed super happy when I confirmed it. Do you think she actually is happy?

Why would she lie to you?

so next year i’m startin 11th grade, and well ive been doin shit (Cs or failing) since highschool started due to depression and executive dysfunction, while in the past i was like… an a to b+ student. is this somethin you see a lot, and if so, do you have any advice to try to get my parents to not have such high expectations of me because its like the Most Stressful Thing To Have To Live Around and just makes me even less motivated, because ill never do as good as i used to.

Think positively!  All you can do is your best.  Talk to your parents about your concerns and how you are doing what you can.  Ask your teachers for help.  You can do it!
