I know this is super completely off topic, but did you know that there are teacher crush blogs where kids hardcore crush on their teachers? I mean, I’ve had teacher crushes before (like little teen crushes, which is natural), but holy crap, I would not dedicate a blog to them. To me, it’s just a little creepy.

I KNOW, RIGHT!??  Thank you!!  I understand teacher crushes (I had one in high school too), but that’s it!  Gross.

Have a nice day! 🙂

It’s my first year of teaching in Sweden. I read everywhere about how every teacher in the country is stressed, and my coworkers are stressed too. I think I should feel more stressed than I do. Am I missing something huge? Like am I doing something horribly wrong? One coworker said she worked 24/7 her first year. I do not do that. Are teachers overachievers and that’s why they’re stressed? I can honestly say I don’t put to much effort in my work.

If you feel you are helping your students succeed in every way possible, then that is fine.  You would have to decide this for yourself.  Every teacher is different.

Hello, first of all I love your blog :) 2nd of all, I’m considering on becoming a intermediate teacher. I hear comments saying it’s really stressful, bad pay and always using your own time, dealing with children in a non aggressive way ect. What I’m worried about the most is bad pay and being stressed. Do you have any comments about this ?

You need to do what is best for you.  Yes, it is stressful sometimes, but we need to keep working through challenges; I find it very worthwhile.

I am paid well, so you would have to ask other teachers in your area.

When someone else asked earlier about not being paid well, someone else sent me an explanation, so here it is:

“To the anon that asked about salaries, I’m a first year teacher living on my own this year and while I don’t have the greatest apartment in the world or cable (I currently have 8 TV channels) it is TOTALLY possible to live on your own on a teacher’s salary. It’s all about budgetting and figuring out what’s important to you. I also have a lot of friends who room with another teacher to help cut costs. Best wishes!”

Make your own decision and follow your passion.  Good luck!
