This may seem strange but I’m still in high school and have a question. I’ve been trying really hard in my honors Algebra 2 class and am still struggling. The first time I asked the teacher about it she just told me to “try harder.” The amount of effort I’m putting forth is giving me extreme anxiety so you can see where this is a tad unhelpful. Do you have any tips for approaching a teacher for extra help?

You could talk to the teacher privately to express concern for your grade, and how you feel some extra help/explanation would support your learning.  I hope it works out!  If not, you could try asking another teacher in the school.

Do you think teaching middle school is harder than teaching high school? I’m super set on becoming a middle school world history/reading or language teacher, and all my former teachers are very supportive and think I’d make a great teacher. But, my friends are positive that middle schoolers are worse than high schoolers.

I have never taught middle school, or been in a middle school, so I cannot comment on what is more difficult.

Don’t make your decision based on the opinions of others.  You need to make the decision for what is best for you, and where you’d rather be.  Take time volunteering in schools to see what you’d prefer.  Good luck.
