In reply to that anon saying that their disability might cause the students to see them as a joke, I’ve had two teachers with a disability, one of them had no arms nor legs and the other basically had no neck, and none of the students have ever disrespected them. because they were damned good teachers and showed respect to their students, too. Don’t let your disability hold you back from following your dreams!
THANK YOU!!
How did you decide where to teach? (like geographic location)
I was lucky enough to get a job in the region I’m from.

Describe what kind of student you were in high school
You’re so demanding, yet I feel there is more when there isn’t an end stop to the sentence. What are you really asking?

I’m a college student working on my education degree and I work in a middle school and high school. Most of the teachers I work with give me a lot of negative feedback about becoming and elementary school teacher, things like “you’ll never find a job because every girl 20-25 is getting that degree” and how I should turn back while I can. Is this normal? How do you deal with the negative comments about your job?
Don’t listen to them. Everyone has comments about teachers, even current teachers! Follow your own path and work hard. If you truly desire to become a teacher, it will happen. Don’t give up!
And once you get into a school, avoid the staff room/teachers’ lounge. Those kind of comments will be all you find in there.
