Hello! Firstly I love your blog, it’s such an honest insight into teaching. Secondly, I really want to become a teacher but my parents are very much against it. They don’t think teaching is a good profession (we’re south East Asian). Do you have any tips on how to convince them that teaching is actually a wonderful career with great rewards. Thanks in advance! xx
Follow your heart. It is your life, not your parents. I am not in your situation, so I cannot give insight on how to specifically convince your parents, but if you must, you could give examples of how teachers have helped you and how you want to make others feel the same. Showcase your passion and desire, and it should shine through.

uhh… hi. so im 16 and have no idea what im going to do after school and im kinda maybe considering becoming a teacher (probably art and one or two other subjects, maybe english?) but im currently struggling with depression, anxiety and borderline personality disorder to the point where simply going to school as a student is incredibly hard and my grades are suffering. do you think i could work as a teacher in spite of that?
We can work through whatever we want if we try and move forward. Keep moving forward, ask for help and don’t give up. You’ve got this!

Hey! So I have this teacher who has been helping me a lot. He’s the only person that I can open up to that much. I really love him. He’s like a father to me. He said he might leave our school next year but I don’t want to lose him. I want him to stay in my life even if he’s not working in my school anymore. Is it bad to feel that way? Like being so attached to a teacher that you actually fear losing them? Should I let him go and forget him or should I do something to keep him in my life?
I don’t think it’s bad, per se, but everyone needs to move on. People are in your life for short periods of time to help you during that time. After that, you are meant to move forward on your own with the other people you will meet on your journey. This teacher also is moving forward on his own journey.

I feel like if I just ask what his hobbies are I might seem weird? Thank you
Just strike up a conversation about something you’re interested in and ask what he likes. It won’t seem creepy, unless you’re 2 inches from his face when you ask. Good luck!
