I’m glad you have a positive relationship with him; however, I don’t think a full-grown adult man should be confiding in a 16 year old about his personal problems. I don’t think he should be “dumping” that on to a teenager; he should have his own friends to help him with his problems. It’s one thing to share personal stories, but not issues he is dealing with. If you feel comfortable that nothing wrong is happening, then it should be okay. But the very fact that you’re asking if it is weird leads me to believe that there’s something in your head that thinks it is weird or wrong. Do what is best for you.

Thank you for your kind comments!
When I first started the blog, I was following some other teaching blogs and wanted to include some of my own ideas. After that, the blog turned into a kind of therapy for me; it’s good for venting and helping me realize the importance of what I do. It’s a good way to be creative and have some “me time.”

At the end of this past school year, I officially got on full-time; I checked the job application website I have to apply through, and guess how many job applications I submitted in 4 years? 300. THREE HUNDRED. EXACTLY. How many interviews did I get? Maybe 15?
What did start changing the job situation around for me was asking principals, supervisors, associate teachers, etc from the school board to send an email to the person receiving the job applications (usually the principal of the school) to put in a good word for me. If you do that, your name gets out there. If you don’t know anyone, start volunteering in schools to get to know some people and for them to get to know you.
As for interview tips, be yourself. Act confidently; this is hard, I know, but, if you act like you’ve already got the job, it will shine through (but don’t be rude about it! ha). Give specific examples of activities you’ve done, and bring in a portfolio to showcase what you’ve done.
You can do it! If you truly desire to become a teacher, then it will happen!
Proof (each page has 20 job applications x 15 pages):
