I’m a primary teacher from Australia and your blog is an accurate description of my life. Your hilarious gif posts vastly improved my tedious evening of laminating and marking. Thanks from the other side of the globe :)

How would you react if a student started crying in class out of nowhere
It always depends on the situation. I’ve had students crying quietly where they excuse themselves and I speak with them after. I’ve had students where they don’t leave, and I go and speak to them quietly or out in the hall. I have not had anyone start bawling during class, but I am sure I would know how to react in the moment. It is difficult to say before the situation has occurred.

I really love the idea of teaching others something that I’m pasionate about… Right now I’m a junior in high school and I can barely be apart of a discussion :( were you always able to be infront of people? Does it get easier?
We only learn things by doing. Practicing a skill makes it easier over time. Set goals for yourself to raise your hand 2-3 times a week, then daily, etc.

At my school there are lunchtime help sessions for maths that I often attend and a new teacher who takes it makes me feel really uncomfortable. He’s never outright done anything but often does things like put his hand on my back or stand really close to me when helping me with a question. I haven’t noticed him doing it with other students but am scared to bring it up in case I’m overreacting :/ I’m just really worried about making a big deal out of nothing.
If you’re feeling uncomfortable, then it’s not a big deal. If he does it again, just say nicely that you’d appreciate it if he didn’t have his hand on your back
