I have this teacher who talks really fast, so it’s hard for me to keep up, but my classmates can keep up with it and I feel so slow and dumb cause I can’t keep up.
Don’t feel that way. Talk to your teacher privately about your concerns and ask for extra help. I am sure you are not the only one who feels that way. Don’t follow the status quo. Take advantage of YOUR education.

I’m a 1st year teacher in a very rough school and no support from admin. I was told on the 1st day that they know I have the hardest kids in the school and they were there to support me, but it turns out they’re basing my midterm eval on my worst class. I no longer feel comfortable asking them for help bc they take it as I can’t do my job. Do you have any advice for dealing with unsupportive admin? I’m losing my mind!

Even when I’ve had rough classes, I’ve talked to them about how I need to be evaluated and they understood and behaved decently when admin came in to watch. Do you have union support?
