Think about how you feel when you receive praise or recognition for something good you have done. Do you like feeling that? Teachers like it too. We don’t often hear the positive comments.

I recently graduated – would it be weird if i sent my art history teacher an email about how much i enjoyed being in his class because he was hands down my favourite teacher ? it’s just that i never was the most vocal student, i just listened really and wasn’t overwhelmingly good or anything so i’m not sure if it would seem odd

Hello. So someone offered me to teach ESL online. (I’m still an education student.) Do you have any suggestions on how to teach foreign students?
I do not have any training in ESL. Perhaps others on tumblr do?
All I can say is to treat them like regular people, and then follow the curriculum.

Hello! I’m a fellow teacher here on Tumblr and I was wondering if any students have had a crush on you or, if you have ever had a crush on one? This seems to be a reoccurring problem in my school and I wanted to see if any fellow teachers have experienced the same.
I have not had this experience, and I truly hope it does not happen.
I get too many questions about it, however, from students. I can appreciate where the crush comes from, but I see how it can go way too far.

Not that recently. There is still a teacher-student dynamic where one still has “authority.” Years down the line, possibly, but not right after graduation.

If a student calls you over to ask a question and you start explaining it to them but they zone out while still making the proper “oh” “okay” “I get it” can you tell? ( I do it all the time because I have a really bad attention span and I feel bad doing that to my teachers but I want to know if they know)
Sometimes, but not always. We are not mind readers. Be honest and tell us.
