Hi, I was wondering if you could give some advice. I have a friend (18yrs old) who has recently started dating our teacher (not sure of the age, but I believe around 30+). I was one of the few trusted with this secret. I respect their choice, yet I know that this is honestly something that should not be happening. Would you know what is best to do? Should I let them be and simply keep quiet or?

If you are uncomfortable with this, tell your friend and the dangers of it.  If your friend doesn’t understand, you may need to back away from the friendship.  You could ask an adult close to you about coming forward to tell others about it, but that would be up to you.  Technically, your friend is an adult who can make her own decisions.  You will have to reflect and think about your position and what to do next.  Good luck.

Hi, i have a question for you about student teacher relationship. I am a 16 year old girl and we have a P.E teacher in our school who is about 50 years old and he looks and acts perverted too. For example he always comes into the girl’s gym lesson and just watches us (especially our behinds)…a few weeks ago I had a random chat with him and since then he gives me high fives in the hallways and stuff which I was fine with up until (im continuing in a second part)

(Part 2) until he brought be chocolate for my birthday. I never told any teacher my birthday and we don’t celebrate it either and apparently he has been talking about my birthday weeks before too and asking questions about me from other teachers/students. A few days ago he started joking that I should go to Brussels with him because the drinking age there is 17 and though he knows im still 16, I should go with him. He was joking but he really makes me uncomfortable with these..what should i do?

Please tell someone.  If you are uncomfortable, then it is not okay for him to be joking.  Tell your parents, tell a staff member at the school you trust.  Please do something about this.

I was just wondering why teachers pick groups for students (for presentations or assignments) and not let them choose their own. I think I do better working with people I know rather than strangers, but what do you think?

It always depends on the assignment and the class, but sometimes teachers choose groups based on abilities or to challenge students to get to know new people.  In postsecondary studies and the workforce, you will constantly be challenged to work with new people, including people you don’t like.
