I use jokes in school to hide my suicidal thoughts and selfharming actions and how much i fear the future which no one notices so I guess it hide them pretty well and I’m sorry if …

“… joking annoys teachers it’s the only way people won’t notice the tears in my eyes and cuts on my arms”

Joking can annoy us, but I typically try to talk to students about their behaviour one-on-one to show that I care about their success and hope they open up to me.

I hope you find someone to open up to and get help from.

If a student is diagnosed with a doctors note with social anxiety or generalised anxiety would teachers still have the student present presentations and read out loud?

It depends.  With English class, one quarter of the curriculum is based on oral communication so I could not exempt a student completely for that.  Usually what I would do is give a student an opportunity to present in front of a small audience of people of their own choosing.  I give every student the chance to pass when I ask them to read aloud.

Hi, first things first I love this page. Also, this is just me saying a thank you to all teachers out there because I know how much work you put in and I appreciate it every lesson of the day. I want to BE a teacher myself too. My question is this- Why is it seen as a bad thing to care about your teachers. Like if I hear one of my teachers cried, I feel bad for them, but apparently that’s not ok?I don’t get that at all. When teachers leave as well, apparently it’s not okay to be upset about it😒

Thanks for your nice comments!

I think it is fine to show you care – caring goes both ways between teacher and student.  If there are concerns at your school, talk to someone to ask some questions about this.
