Does it really matter? Â A teacher’s a teacher no matter the gender. Â (I tried a Horton Hears A Who thing there; didn’t work out too well).

I would have to say student who desires to be in school is a great student. Â That could even be the student who acts out in class, but they showed up – if they didn’t want to be there, they would skip. Â A desire to learn is all that is needed. Â The rest will all fall into place.

This decision is yours and yours entirely. Â I have no idea who you are, what you have experienced or what you are capable of. Â It is a busy job with a focus on academics, but what can even be busier/stressful is the focus on the students’ emotional/mental well-being. Â This can also affect the teachers’ well-being. Â But, still, you need to decide what you are capable of.
However, teaching is a career that a plethora of people are in, meaning there are SO MANY supports out there to help you. Â Chatting with your department head, administration or any fellow colleagues will help you through the, what seems like, 24 hour job.
I cannot think of any career that is more fun and rewarding, though. Â I have my down days where I think a 9-5 job might be better, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Â A student’s success, a single one, is worth it (an entire class would be better, but I’ll go for one sometimes).
Take some time to reflect, even try some volunteer work in schools. Â Good luck!
