In response to your story, I would discuss your concerns with an administrator. The particular students being bullied should also come forward.

– the classroom. The student told her she had plans to report her, and went to find a more senior member of staff to do so. The teacher then said ‘Now that we’ve finally gotten rid of that one!’ Things like this occur in the class frequently, and I feel like I’m observing a teacher behaving incredibly unprofessionally, bullying a student, targeting an individual. I do not believe the report I have mentioned was carried through, and so I feel as if I should do something. What would you recommend?

It stresses students out when they’re taking a test and the teachers come up behind them.
I don’t give many tests, but I would think that teachers walking around would be to see who needs help. If they walk by you, it means you would be doing okay on the test. If they stop to help you, it is to do just that: help you. Remember, teachers are there to teach and help you. If you are uncomfortable with this, talk to your teacher privately to express your concerns.

I address my teachers as ‘Miss’ or ‘Sir’, and not because I don’t know their names, just because it sounds far too formal if I use their full name, or at least to me. Does this bother teachers?
I don’t think so. As long as you are not being rude, I would think teachers wouldn’t care what you call them.

Did you have any public speaking fears when you were starting out as a teacher?
I did not, but there anxiety is always involved starting a new class. I’m sure there are teachers who do have public speaking fears, but it is not that common since a teacher has to public speak everyday for the rest of their life. It is not a profession to go into if public speaking makes one too apprehensive.

I just finished my first practicum and I couldn’t stop crying! My students got me a lanyard and a homemade card and surprised me with a party. It’s only been two weeks in the school, but it was amazing! Just needed to tell someone!
Thanks for sharing! I’m glad you had such a positive experience 🙂
