You still have two years to go, so there is some time. Try volunteering in some schools to see what you like better. Where I am from, a teacher can go to school for two divisions, and still become qualified in additional qualification courses after graduating in all other divisions (four divisions total: primary, junior, intermediate and senior). See what options like that exist for you. Good luck!

I am aiming to go to uni in 2 years and get a teaching degree. But I can’t decide whether I want to go into secondary or primary teaching. How do I decide? I’m 17 by the way:)

Hello!! any tips for a student-teacher who is going to teach her first lesson ever?
YOU’VE GOT THIS!
No matter what you have on the lesson plan, just roll with how it pans out. Don’t feel like you have to meet every single point you planned. Don’t freak out when things don’t go as planned. Relax, breathe and believe!

For the social anxiety anon! I’ve had terrible anxiety all my life, but knew I wanted to be a teacher. I just completed my first year of education and I can honestly say “GO FOR IT!” I’ve found that the education program, instead of increasing my anxiety has actually helped to ease a lot of my issues. The best type of social practice is in front of students who want you there and are excited, no matter what you do!
Thanks for the tip!

Any tips for teacher that have Social Axienty?
One would have to do some personal meditating to decide whether teaching is the right pathway. As a teacher, one will be put into social situations right off the bat where one needs to be able to handle them effectively. Some examples: job interviews, first day of class, meeting the staff, getting to know your students, coming up with ideas on the spot when you finish your lesson plan early, having to update an activity in the middle of a lesson because it’s not working, having to figure out what to do at the beginning of class when you forget something important at home, having to change your lesson entirely at the beginning of class because the technology isn’t working, frustrating students, students who hate everything, students who flip over desks, students who start a fight in the middle of class, students who tell you to fuck off (yes, even elementary students will do this), parent phone calls, angry parent phone calls, parent-teacher interviews, angry parent-teacher interviews, staff meetings, assemblies, crises, professional development sessions, and MANY MORE.
I’m not trying to scare you, but you will not be able to get away from social situations that could turn awry and you will be pulled into the middle of. You will need to decide for yourself if you are capable. Remember that teaching isn’t a lonely job – there are tons of supports and resources out there; ask for help and move through one day at a time – you will survive if you believe in yourself.

Teachers are so amazing. Wow. They balance their social life, school work, students issues, teaching, and the general stresses of being an adult and they still come in every morning with a smile on their face. Thank you for all the hard work you do :)!
