Hey there :) Firstly, I want to compliment your blog. I really enjoy looking at your gifs because they’re so damn funny. They kinda make me realise how hard it actually is to be a teacher and how annoying teenagers sometimes can be. I wanted to ask you a question though: Do teachers talk about their “problematic” students in the staff room and what do they discuss? I had anorexia and I feel like all my teachers know about it. Now I feel like they constantly judge me. I feel so psycho:(

Thanks for your kind comments 🙂

I don’t go to the staff room, because of teachers who go there only talk about work (usually complaining; as far as I know, not to gossip about student experiences).  In my own work office, we sometimes discuss students to gain some outside insight as to how to best help them or how we can deal with certain situations.

If any teacher knows about your eating disorder, then they should all be trying to help you.  They should not be judging.  Try to share your concerns with a guidance counsellor.

Good luck.

When my students think I’m joking when I say I can kick them off the course (don’t have a gif for this, sorry, but as a college teacher I kind of revel in seeing the hints of fear in their faces when I say this and they don’t really want to believe I hold that power lol).

Here you go!

Hi, so I have a teacher for two subjects (Spanish and Technical Graphics) and he absolutely HATES me. We’ve never gotten along, mainly because I’m the only one in the class who’s not afraid to stand up to him when he tries to shove his opinions down everyone’s throat about how wonderful he is. But recently, it’s actually starting affecting my grades. He’s marking my work much harder than anyone else and because of this, I’m getting bad grades even though I work hard. What should I do?

Try talking to him privately about your concerns, both academically and socially in the class.  If you ask for extra help or question where you went wrong, you could get the answer.  Always be polite.

Do you ever think about the fact that the one homework assignment, or project, or essay, or paper could be the one assignment that pushes some kid over the edge into an anxiety attack?

I take into consideration stress levels, which is why every assignment I give can always be finished during class time.  Homework is only required if absent or if students do not use their time wisely.  I can understand that not every teacher does this, but students also need to discuss their own concerns with their teacher.

So, I have a huge crush on my chemistry teacher. And I know it’s ridiculous and hopeless, but I still can’t get him out of my head. Help?

I currently have a lot (and I mean A LOT) of questions about this, so here is an answer to all of them:

I will not ever have feelings for a student, even if they turn of age.  NO.
