We are not mind readers. There can be suspicions, but we can never know for sure until the student tells us. I would try to speak with the student about their behaviour and let them know I care about them.

Can a teacher tell when a student is sad or depressed, even if the student is managing to hide their feelings how they feel is well?

So one of my teachers told me I was annoying but I shouldn’t take it personally. Like how is that not personal? What do you think?
It always depends on the situation as to when and how it was said, but if you are offended by it then discuss your concerns with the teacher. Only you can judge the situation based on how you feel about it.

What is your opinion on Waldorf education, the Steiner philosophy and just generally anthroposophy?
I have no idea what any of those are.

are teachers required to tell someone if they know a student is self-harming?
Yes – we need to call Children’s Aid Society, and get the student straight into counselling and support. It would all be to support the student, not to break their trust. When a student shares with me, I always tell them that I would keep it confidential, providing that it does not involve the harming of themselves or others.

Hey, this is going to be a long question. Sorry for that! My question would be: how do I deal with a teacher who crossed boundaries? I am an 11th grader from Europe(sorry, if my English is bad) and I had some issues with depression and an eating disorder the past two years. My former class teacher noticed that and was very supportive, which means that she talked to me and tried to be more sensitive because I really was having a horrible time. As time passed, we became very close… tbc -K
I only got part 1 – sorry.
Try discussing any concerns you have with a guidance counsellor who can give you more specific advice on the situation. Good luck.
